My relaxing weekend

It has been ages since i did nothing over a weekend. The past Saturday, we only got up at about 9.30. We went to have brunch at a dim sum place near our house. My husband was going for golf that afternoon at Sofitel Palm Resort so I decided to follow him and check out their spa.

Mandara Spa had several spa treatments between the range of 150 to 400+. I also saw that if you become a member (cost 400) you get 2 free Balinese massages, 1 free facial and 2 discount vouchers for any treatment of our choice. The membership seemed more cost effective as 1 Balinese massage itself was 230. I was planning to go for their Mandara massage where it involves 2 masseuse working on you at the same time. Unfortunately, they would only have 2 people available at 5pm. In the end I had a Balinese massage. The massage was 50 minutes but I have to say that it is just not enough. Just when i was slowly getting into it, it was over. Next time, I will have to ask if they are able to do for at least 60 minutes. After the session, I really felt like I was floating. It was pure bliss.

The whole of Sunday was spent watching Ugly Betty reruns. They're planning to show the new season on Tuesday so they had a marathon of the last season. I only started watching at about 9pm and it went on all the way to about 12. The only other time I ever sat in front of the TV for that long was when we were in Suzhou 2 years ago. We managed to buy the dvd of the 1st 2 seasons of Grey's Anatomy, and we just watched one after the other. By the time we were done, our eyes were all blurred and our brain felt a little stoned.

I was actually suppose to go and pick Mahadevan up from seremban yesterday but then our car was giving us problems. We took it to the workshop on Friday and they said it would only be ready today. So tomorrow, i am going to see my son and bring him home. Cant wait!

Prawn, petai and egg sambal

This is one of the things I have been planning to cook this week. Today's sambal has been my best effort so far. My previous attempts at making sambal were not so good. In my over-enthusiastic mood, I would always end up with too much sambal and it would be burning hot. When i added tomatoes to cool it down a little, it would be sour.

Even this round I was so tempted to add more chilies for my sambal but i decided to stop myself. Looking at the end result, i could have added a few more chilies for a little more sambal. I don't like petai but I love the smell of it. Luckily my husband and my mom like it, so it will not be wasted. I went to the market today to get the prawns and petai and i saw quails eggs. This is one of my favourites, despite its high cholesterol content. Since my husband doesn't eat quails eggs, I put in 2 chicken eggs for him.

All I need to do now is cook some rice and then I can enjoy my yummy sambal.

Rantings

I speak to Mahadevan a few times a day, that is if he's willing to talk to me. He sometimes just doesnt talk much over the phone. Listening to his voice brings tears to my eyes.

He says he doesn't want to come back to Kulai. I guess that makes 2 of us. Even I would be much happier staying in Seremban, nearer my mom and the rest of my family. Here, its just the 3 of us. Most of the day, its just Mahadevan and me, and then only at night Jay is home. On most weekdays, Jay is too preoccupied wiht his work that all he wants to do is come back and unwind in front of the tv. Now that Mahadevan is not here, my days are spent alone. No doubt i am able to go out and do somethings on my own but still, life is just not the same.

I am going to Seremban on Sunday to bring him back. Only 3 days have passed since i left him there but I feel like its been weeks! I plan to come back here on Monday. I can't imagine another week without him.

Life without Mahadevan

I went to Seremban on Friday as Jay had to attend a function in Teluk Intan (TI) on Saturday morning. Saturday morning, my mom and I took Mahadevan to Jusco to play. Jusco is practically a daily routine for Mahadevan when we are in Seremban as its right outside our housing area. He enjoys playing all the games and rides and then we go to the bookshop and sit there and read for a while.

I got a juicer for myself there as I have decided to make juice here. Amma has been doing it faithfully for the past 1 month and she says she feels so much better. I was previously hesitant to get one as i dont have much time in the morning to prepare all the stuff. But amma said you can actually cut most of the fruits the night before and store them in the fridge so you only have to do the apples the next morning. This is doable for me as I can prepare most of the stuff while Jay is entertaining Mahadevan.

We left Seremban on Sunday afternoon and Mahadevan said he doesn't want to follow us back. We had alsready packed his stuff so Jay and I just drove around the area incase he changed my mind. After about 10 minutes we called amma and she said Mahadevan is fine. We went back to drop off his things and he thought we were coming to take him and he started making a fuss.
I had already thought of leaving him there earlier upon amma's suggestion but everytime i asked him, he said no. When we reached i called amma and sha said that he's really happy. At first I was so relaxed to have nothing to do. But then later when i went upstairs and saw his things around i felt sad that he wasn't around. I kept thinking of all the things he would be doing.

Today I made my juice and then after my husband left for work, i have been browsing the web. I don't usually have the luxury of being on the comouter the whole day. I have decided to experiment on some cooking this week. I love to cook but with Mahadevan around, i only do simple, fast things as i have to be ready to layan him at any moment.

The house is sooooo quiet. Everything reamins in its place and there's no one calling "amma, amma" and asking a thousand "why's". I have not been without Mahadevan for so long it is really strange. Time passes really slowly when you have nothing much to do. I miss him soooo much.

Phuket

It has been almost 2 weeks since we got back from our holiday. We left on 1/6 and returned on 5/6. This was suppose to be a trip for our 5th anniversary but we had already decided to take Mahadevan along as we knew we wouldn't stop wondering about him. Last year when we went to Redang without Mahadevan, everytime we saw a child doing something, we kept thinking how Mahadevan would have liked to do the same.

We arrived at Phuket airport by 10am and we were taken to our hotel by the pre-arranged transport. Le Meridien Phuket Beach Resort is a great place for family vacations. The reason for choosing this hotel was that it had its own private beach while at the same time, it was still quite close to Patong. Although check-in is only at 2pm, our room was ready when we reached the resort at 11am.

After a short rest, we went to the beach. My husband and I took turns to swim in the sea as my son would not go in. The waves were pretty strong, getting into the sea was a big challenge. My son was quite happy to roast in the sun and play with his sand toys. After lunch, my son refused to go back to the room, so we went to the swimming pool. The resort has huge swimming pools at both wings and its got a junior pool as well. We were there till about 5pm after which my husband and I were so tired that we had to go back. Of course my son made a fuss about it but he didn't have much choice then.

And so this was our routine for the rest of our stay there. Right after breakfast, its time to go to the beach. After lunch, its off to the pool until evening. Mahadevan did go to the Penguin Club (kids club) for some painting and drawing. I couldnt leave him there without one of us as they only kids 4 years and above to be dropped off. Although they also have baby sitting services, Mahadevan refused to be without us so we could not even utilise that.

We went to Patong 2 of the nights for dinner. Food was okay but the price was not that cheap. All our other meals were in the hotel as most of the time we were too tired to go out. In the end I came back more exhausted then when I went. It was actually a holiday for my son and not really for us but despite that, we would never consider leaving him and going for a holiday.
